Volunteer Opportunity

Kenya Voluntary and Community Development Project (KVCDP) provides volunteers with work placements in Rural Community Projects, Public and private Institutions and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Kenya. It provides professionals and non-professionals, students and non-students with hands-on-experience and helps them to experience and understand more on diverse cultures in Kenya. Volunteers are placed with host families; however, there is an option for individual stay. KVCDP enjoys wide and strong partnership arrangements with public and private institutions in Kenya.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAM
This is a program that gives you an opportunity to SERVE YOUNG ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN in poor rural villages in Kenya. As a volunteer you also get a chance to explore the culture of the indigenous people. The Children’s Home enjoys hospitable environment from community members and is very safe, the kids are wonderful and fun to work with. A lot of support is needed at the Children’s Home and we urgently appeal that you join us to work together to bring hope, faith and love to these children. Working together can see us make a difference in these children’s lives! KVCDP encourages a formal working relationship with volunteers, donors, institutions and organizations to bring smiles on the faces of orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya today.
There are a lot of activities at the children’s home and volunteers are greatly engaged in the daily operations and have direct contact with the kids and their care givers. The work here include: teaching Basic English, basic math, music, arts, personal and communal hygiene, environmental stewardship, games and home work. Volunteers also help with the kitchen affairs; preparing meals for children, having meals together with the children, maintaining the children’s home and fundraising initiatives.
HEALTH PROGRAM:
This program is for both medical /health interns and volunteers where you are much involved in the activities in the public hospitals, dispensaries etc. Program participants are given the opportunity to have direct contact with the patients and work closely with medical doctors and physicians in charge. You always have a mentor around you for questions and answers. The public hospitals are in dire need of volunteers and interns due to large turn up of patients and few medical staff. This is an opportunity where not only do you give help in the hospitals but you also get to learn a lot about health activities. Participants are scheduled to work in the out patients department, female and male wards, labor and children wards, surgical and operation theatres as well as helping in the pharmacy and laboratories.
